Warwickshire & District Federation 2016 Prize Presentation.
Warwickshire & District Federation held their prize presentation evening on 19th November the event was very well supported eight of our ten clubs were represented with over 100 in attendance. Our guest of honour was Gary Daykin who came along with his wife Pat to present our prizes. Also present at the presentation Albert Lloyd and family who kindly sponsor us each year AJ Lloyd Funeral Directors and House2aHome discount furniture store. Norma and Mick from Dordon Pet Foods was unable to attend we would like to say a huge thank you to them along with the other sponsors John Gilbert, Jon Dodd, Trent Valley House HS. Thanks also went out to Jack Howe our clock setter Paul Cave and Keith Walters who is not only one of the best convoyers in the country but keeps our transporter in tip top condition.
The Federation has two sections north and south and operates a points system to determine the winners.
North section was dominated by Baz Lovell earning 208 points twice as many as the runners up Dalby Bros with 104 points in 3rd place we had Malc Slater with 71 points, 4th Wayne Jarvis with 58 points all from the Monsell SRFC and 5th G Inger & Son (Neill) 42 points from East Leake SRFC. South section was tighter with Henton & Wheatley (Alan & Ian) winning with 138 points from Trent Valley House HS runners up James & Gary Dutton 101 points from Portway HS, 3rd Wilson and Malin (Ken & Steve) 81 points, 4th E Allen & Son (Brian) 61 points Ken, Steve & Brian are members of Nuneaton NRHS, 5th Dave Shorthouse 52 points flying with Portway HS.
Eight of the top ten positions in the federation were from the south section. Winner being Henton & Wheatley with 309 points, 2nd Wilson & Malin 219 points, 3rd D Shorthouse 198 points, 4th J & G Dutton 182 points, 5th E Allen & Son 153 points, 6th B Lovell 119 points, 7th A Rheams 101 points, 8th Mr/s J Huddlestone 95 points, 9th M Slater 86 points and 10th S Walton 84 points.
James & Gary Dutton took the majority of the prize money, they were 1st, 2nd & 3rd with their own pigeons in the breeder buyer race £1,250.00 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the gold ring open and south section £697.50 and 1st & 3rd in the gold ring yearling race £361.25. The other prize winners in these three races were B Lovell 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the gold ring north section £120.00 and Wilson & Malin 2nd in the gold ring yearling race £155.00.
Trophies were presented to average winners: Henton & Wheatley Old Bird Inland & Combined Inland. W Marbrow Old Bird Combined & Combined, S Walton 3 Longest Young Bird & Young Bird and J Murphy Overseas. E Allen & Son received a trophy for winning the Old bird inland championship race and R Perrott & Son for the young bird championship race. B Carter & Son lowest winning velocity old bird inland. P Kemp & Son highest winning velocity. Our overseas races are duplicated from the MNFC Coutance – Henton & Wheatley, Ancenis – Henton & Wheatley, Bordeaux – J Murphy, Vire – G Inger & Son. Winners of the sections Henton & Wheatley and B Lovell also received trophies.
Our president Jon Dodd auctioned six birds donated by Gary Daykin, Don Salt, Simon Parkinson, Adams Bros, Derrick Jones and Bruce McAllister the auction raised £670.00 these birds will be eligible for the 2017 Breeder Buyer race which is a good start to the prize fund which was £3,800.00 this year.
Mrs Rowstron did us a lovely buffet, Diane and Tammy went round with raffle tickets and we was entertained by a duo Magee Sound all in all it was a really good night.
